We had a great time last week celebrating Earth Day! Coral reef sculptures, jungle paintings, map work and some marvellous hats!
Blackbirds Class are doing their Junior Forester Award. Today they were searching for minibeasts and found a millipede and some caterpillars. However, they also found lots of sleepy bees and decided to help them by giving them fresh blossom which led to a few of the bees getting enough energy to fly off! Others were put into bushes and blossom trees to rest a little longer. We have some great conservationists in the making!
Skylarks Class (Miss Donnelly's) are half way through their Junior Forester's Award. Here's what they've been up to so far!
Congratulations to the Kingfishers on earning their Junior Forester Awards by identifying trees and mini-beasts, building an amazing mini-beast hotel, planting trees and creating woodland sculptures!
Ashgate is now officially part of the Queen's Green Canopy for the Platinum Jubilee! We have received and planted lots of new trees as part of a national project to make our country greener!
The Kingfishers are having a great time earning their Junior Foresters Awards!
The Key Stage 2 Forest School group planted some fruit trees donated by Ebony and family.
Rain kept the Key Stage 1 Forest Schoolers indoors today but they still had great fun making clay models!
To celebrate Chinese New Year, KS1 did some food tasting of egg noodles, prawn crackers and sweet and sour sauce! Yum!
Year 1 had their first Bamboo Tamboo lesson - a Caribbean percussion instrument
Year 2 touched and smelled different Indian cooking ingredients. They were excited to taste them next week.
