The National Curriculum states

At Ashgate we understand the importance of developing our pupils' skills to enable them to express themselves and to help give them the opportunity to make choices they deserve to make in later life. We work to empower our children by enriching their vocabulary and giving them the tools they need to read and write confidently.
We start through our Phonics and Early Reading sessions and develop their skills using our comprehensive Literacy framework supported by the Accelerated Reader scheme for independent reading.
