Years 3 and 4

School Closure Activities:

Should the school be directed to close, staff will post activities under this heading.  In each case, activities will be posted on a Monday and will consist of a range of subject matter.  Where appropriate, feedback and or answers will be provided on the following Monday.

Children should be encouraged to complete all tasks and parents are advised to support them in this process.  With this in mind, parents will find a 'crib sheet' identifying what should be expected and looked for in the children's work.

While schools are closed, it is likely that your child will be spending more time online. Below, you can find a guide on discussing online safety with your child. It also includes some activities that you can do at home with your child.

After the recent announcement that schools will close to most children on Friday, work and resources will begin to be posted on this class page. Below, you can find a copy of the Year 3/4 Statutory Spellings words that can be practised (both reading and spelling) with your child. You can also find a copy of the Year 1/2 spelling words and a copy of all the times tables.

Year 3&4 Recommended Reads

Below, you can find a document that has lots of information and suggestions of websites that are offering free resources or free limited-time subscriptions while the children are off school.

Your child can win £10 National Book Token for each of their classmates – and surprise them all when schools reopen!

Encourage your children to create a fabulous National Book Token design while they're learning from home, and they could return to school with National Book Tokens for all! Whether it's the school crest doodled in ink, a pencil drawing of the entire class, or something completely different, the National Book Token company will choose one child's design to put on a National Book Tokens gift card every week for seven weeks.

When schools open up again, the young designer and their classmates will each receive a £10 National Book Token – emblazoned with the winning artwork – to inspire them to choose their next favourite book from their local bookshop.

The competition is open from Wednesday 6th May and the closing date for entries is Sunday 28th June 2020Go to https://www.nationalbooktokens.com/create-a-national-book-token-for-your-class to find out the details and print the template to be used.

Home Learning Activities - Week Beginning 15.6.2020

This week's activities can be found below. For Maths, we will now be following the White Rose online program, as we have now revised all the topics we have learned this year. In the crib sheet each week, you will be told which week of the White Rose online learning to access. This may not match up with the week we should be on as we are carefully selecting which lessons will benefit the children the most. Each week, videos will be provided by White Rose, teaching your child the new topic. Please see the crib sheet for extra clarity on this.

Science

For Science this week, we will be focussing on Mental Health. This follows on from our work on Physical Health last week and is very important as one affects the other. While we have been in lockdown, there may have been some days where you or your child have felt down, unhappy or unsettled. This is to be expected in these uncertain times and as we begin to return to what we know, this may bring up some feelings of uncertainty or anxiety. I have uploaded some activities below that should help to start some conversations between you and your children so that you can discuss these feelings. Feel free to have a go at any of these activities or none if you feel they are not helpful. There are many, many different activities online that help children to think more clearly about the importance of their mental health.
