  • Ofsted outcomes feedback

Fri 16 Feb 2018 Mr Seargent

    Ofsted Inspection

I would like to pass on my thanks for all those making a valued contribution to the school’s Section 5 (Full) Ofsted inspection on Tuesday and Wednesday. Many of you took the time to speak to the inspectors, complete the online feedback and send written information.

Several of you have asked staff and myself for information on the outcome. The Ofsted Section 5 process requires a degree of quality assurance steps that can take up to 28 days. Until such a time I am bound to confidentiality regarding the outcome. As soon as the outcome is verified, I will let you know.

For now, all I can tell you is that the inspection was extremely thorough, analytical and comprehensive in its application. The pupils, governors and staff worked hard to evidence the school improvements undertaken over the last three years and as a result the process and outcome was a positive one.

I will provide a copy of the full report and official outcome once it has been completed and verified by Ofsted.

  • Good news and thank you

Fri 09 Feb 2018 Mr Seargent

Following my letter last week around attendance and the importance of punctuality, late arrivals at school have more than halved this week.

Thank you for giving your child the best chance to succeed.  Let's hope that this improvement can be seen also in a drastic reduction of those children who have attendance below 95%.

Let us make sure that the opportunities offered to the children at this school are not squandered.

A great improvement but more is needed.

    Thank you.

  • No nuts or chocolate

Mon 05 Feb 2018 Mr Seargent

MANY CHOCOLATE SPREADS CONTAIN HAZELNUTS – THIS MAY NOT BE OBVIOUS ON THE CONTAINER

The school does have pupils with serious allergies THAT ARE LIFE THREATENING. Pupils at particular risk are those with nut allergies, and in our case we do have pupils that require epipens for extreme anaphylactic reaction to nuts.

As a result I must enforce the following rulings:

    • Children are not to bring products to school that contain nuts (Products worded as ‘contains nuts’ or ‘may contain nuts’ are not allowed. Some products are packaged as ‘may contain nut trace’, which is not the same and are allowed)
    • Children are to be instructed not to share any snacks or packed lunches with any children.
    • Chocolate is not allowed under our Healthy School status, but also because many  may contain nuts.

Staff will confiscate items they believe are a nut risk.

Our primary concern in school is the safeguarding of pupils and I must insist that for the safety of others, this ruling is adhered to. Remember, items believed to contain nut products will be confiscated. I thank you on behalf of those pupils affected
  • We're talking PANTS! (NSPCC)

Mon 05 Feb 2018 Mr Seargent / Mrs Forte

We've been talking PANTS in school recently.

NSPCC PANTS that is.  PANTS is a national campaign for children to protect them from the risks of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.  PANTS is a clear and simple strategy for supporting children to understand what is safe, what is not safe and what they should do if they are worried or want to talk about something.

PANTS is an acronym to help children remember the risks and steps, but on a simple level, aims to remind children that what is in their own PANTS is private.

The link below gives a guide for parents as to how they can support their children at home, and more support is available on the school website under >Key Information >Safeguarding.
